Prelude to a Road Trip:

It is important for all our very loyal and amazing readers to note that while we firmly believe that blogs should record events in present time, this minor retrospective is critical in setting the tone for the next week. As such, we feel that the inherent literary integrity of this project depends on properly documenting the experiment...

As all good NYC stories begin, it was a dark and humid night, the streets of the City were bustling...each person going about their way as if they had no idea about what was about to befall the Big Apple...JJDH is leaving the City Extraordinaire tomorrow.

And as all trips to the Big Apple for these cousins would go, Balthazar was the first "official" stop on the menu. It started back in 2002 when JJDH moved to the city and has been an nick-tastic celebration every since. Balthazar, as per usual, was fantastic and delicious. Absolutely amazing. escargots, steak frites, & oysters...cotes du rhone...don't forget the cotes du rhone.

Bruce Springstein...yes that's right all you New Jersey readers, THE BOSS...was seated one table from us at around 11 pm. He is super hot in person, brilliant smile, but his wife was wearing an irritating straw hat in the middle of the night, and was kind of frumptastic. She was "friends" (in the Manhattan sense of the word) with a semi-geriatric Asian women at another table, with a side ponytail. Note to all you celeb watchers: We thought for the first hour or two, that she was Vera Wang, but maybe not. I guess we'll have to pick up next week's issue of PEOPLE to find out who was REALLY there

So after an absolutely amazing dinner, we ended JJDH's last night in the Big Apple. Never Forget. We will always remember.
